The Great Leandro’s Treasure

(For ages 9-12)

Emily’s family thinks she just imagined a prowler snooping around the old house they’re moving into in Salem, Mass. That leaves it up to Emily and her new friend Russell to prove there really is someone sneaking around – and figure out what he’s hunting.

Could it have something to do with the old trunk they find in the attic? The trunk belonged to a famous magician who traveled all over the world. On one of his trips he saved a boy from bandits and received something very valuable as a reward. But what was it?

Can Emily and Russell solve the mystery and find the treasure before the prowler causes more problems for Emily’s family? It might show her neat new stepdad she’s not as ordinary as he thinks. She didn’t want to move to Salem, but now that she has she’s kind-of-sort-of having fun.

M. Ruth Myers is best known for her Maggie Sullivan mystery series for grown ups. As the former Executive Director of the Society of American Magicians, as well as a former National Secretary of the organization, she has a deep affection for the world of stage and closeup magic. For some years she did magic and ventriloquism for schools, clubs and civic groups. She is particularly fond of rope tricks like the ones mastered by Emily in The Great Leandro’s Treasure.
